General FAQs

Please reach us at jasong@peak-hvacr.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Yes we do! Our 24/7 Emergency Service is Available.  Call anytime day or night!  717-420-9177

We offer a range of HVAC services for both residential and commercial buildings including installation, repair, and maintenance of heating, cooling, and ventilation systems.

We recommend getting your HVAC system serviced at least once a year to ensure it is running efficiently and to catch any potential issues before they become major problems.

We work with a variety of HVAC systems including central air conditioning, ductless mini-split systems, heat pumps, and furnaces.

Most central HVAC systems last 15–20 years with proper maintenance. Heat pumps typically last 15 years, furnaces 20 years, and central AC units 15–20 years. If your system is approaching that range and needing frequent repairs, replacement is usually the smarter investment. Contact us today to schedule a free estimate

A spike in your energy bill usually means your system is working harder than it should. Common causes include a dirty filter, refrigerant leak, aging equipment losing efficiency, leaky ductwork, or a failing component. These issues can arise as seasons change. A maintenance visit can usually pinpoint the cause quickly.

Uneven heating is usually a ductwork issue—leaks, poor design, or blockages preventing conditioned air from reaching certain areas. It can also be caused by closed or blocked vents, poor insulation in certain rooms, or a furnace that's either too large or too small for the home. A load calculation and duct inspection can identify the cause.

Most standard HVAC repairs take between one and three hours. Simple fixes like a faulty capacitor, clogged drain line, or igniter replacement are often completed in under an hour. More involved repairs—like a refrigerant leak search and recharge, heat exchange inspection, or control board replacement—can take three to four hours or more. Your technician will give you a realistic estimate once they've diagnosed the problem.

Commercial HVAC FAQs

At minimum twice a year—once before cooling season and once before heating season. High-use commercial facilities, buildings with heavy occupancy, restaurants, or facilities with strict air quality requirements benefit from quarterly maintenance. More frequent service means fewer emergency breakdowns and longer equipment life.

High-use commercial refrigeration like walk-in coolers, walk-in freezers, display cases, and reach-ins in restaurants or food retail, should be serviced at minimum twice a year. Quarterly maintenance is strongly recommended for any business where refrigeration failure creates a food safety risk or significant financial loss.

Common indicators include employees frequently experiencing headaches, fatigue, or respiratory irritation, musty or stale odors that don't go away, visible mold near vents or on walls, excessive dust buildup, inconsistent humidity levels, and higher than normal absenteeism. These symptoms are sometimes referred to collectively as sick building syndrome.
